MANUAL 2011 FOR THE ELECTION OF
RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR IN THE NORTH 2011


INTRODUCTION

In recognition and respect of the Nordic gastronomy and Nordic cultural values selected connoisseurs of gastronomy in the Nordic countries have teamed up to elect ”Restaurant of the year in the North”, an initiative that will bring further focus on the Nordic markers.

JURY

Each country-jury elect its contactperson. (PT: Sweden has to decide april 2011). Each juror accepts to be active visitor at relevant restaurants inside and outside homecountry.

NOMINATION

Each country-jury elects a prenominated maximum of 5 restaurants: june 2011

Each country-jury elects a final nomination of 1 restaurant in its own country: october 2011

Within the period november 1 2011 – january 8th 2012 every finalistrestaurant are expected to announce a date for an nominationsdinner.
The restaurants invites min.2 jurors from the national jury and 1 juror from the other countryjuries. In total max. 6 persons.
At least 1 visitor representing the jury in each country will attend and dine at each nominated restaurant.

The principles for nomination and to be in the final:

Restaurant of the Year in the nordic countries has to be chosen as the best covering all aspects beeing a restaurant. Not only for the food or the service or the location , but the total experience for the guests. Each jury is responsible for the rules in function in each country.


VOTING AND WINNING

January 9th 2012 the result of voting for The Nordic Prize information by e-mail to the secretary.
Voting is done in ranking the restaurants in priority from 1 to 5.

During the prize/gallaevent february 5th, 2012 (*) publication of the winner and a ceremony for THE NORDIC PRIZE award taking place.

ECONOMY AND SPONSORS

Each country is responsible for its own financing.

Each country is free to make sponsoragreements to cover the costs for the jurors participation.

The overall sponsorship agreement is basic for covering all generalcosts during the THE NORDIC PRIZE concept incl. Development & administration of website, cost for press-releases, statuette and awards for the winner, travel- and hotelcosts for invited finalistrestaurants and 1 juror from each country for the prize/Gallaevent. If no headsponsorship is funktioning the cost will be at the arranging countrys responsability

PRIZE/GALLAEVENT

The Prize/Galla event should ideally change between the countries each year. Agreed to take responsability for next event february 5, 2012 is concluded from NORWAY to be held at restaurant Grefsenkollen

As previous years policy is total amounts of costs and income and marketing of the Gallaevent the responssbility of arranging country. It include the cost for travel, accomodation and galleevent for 5 finalistrestaurants and 1 juryrepresentative from each country, a maximum of 10 persons.
